For 45-49 year olds inclusive we offer a bulk billed service in line with the Australian Better Health Initiative (ABHI)

The aim of this clinic and the ABHI is to enhance the capacity of the health system to promote good health and reduce the burden of chronic disease.

The clinic will provide a health check for well patients who are between 45 and 49 years of age and at risk of developing a chronic disease.

This is a time of life when individuals may begin to feel the impact of ageing and notice signs of the onset of chronic disease. A health check at this stage of life can assist patients to make the necessary lifestyle changes to prevent or delay the onset of chronic disease, due to lifestyle risk factors such as:
• smoking, physical inactivity, poor nutrition or alcohol misuse;
• biomedical risk factors, such as high cholesterol, high blood pressure, impaired glucose metabolism or excess weight; and
• family history of a chronic disease.

As part of the practice’s commitment to promoting good health and preventative medicine we are inviting patients who fall into one or more of the above categories, to attend the practice for a Total Health check.

The health check should generally be undertaken by the patient’s ‘usual doctor’, however the clinic will also be held on Thursdays from 4.00pm to 8.00pm for patients who are unable to attend during their usual doctor’s session times.

The clinic will require a 15 minute appointment with the nurse who will take weight, height, blood pressure and a few other measures, followed by a 15 minute appointment with the doctor who will discuss the measures and provide advice on risk factors, lifestyle changes and recommend further tests or investigations as appropriate.

Please tell the receptionist that you require an appointment for the 45-49 year old health check.
