Waiting for your appointment

Waiting to see your doctor can be very frustrating.

Doctors run behind schedule for a number of reasons - for example they may have had to fit in an urgent appointment or they have seen a patient who required a lot of their time. Urgent cases will always be given priority.

It is important to help your doctor by booking a longer appointment if you feel you need more than 15 minutes. If you want two people seen then you should make two appointments.

Some examples where you will need to book a longer appointment:
• General health check-ups • Insurance medicals • Counselling
• Women’s health checks • Complex health problems

Please telephone the practice if you have been delayed or can not attend the appointment. An unkept appointment fee will be changed for missed appointments.

How to assist in minimising waiting times;
• Bring a list of medications that you need repeat scripts for and ask for them during your appointment.
• Bring a list of any referrals you may need renewed and ask for them during your appointment.
• Keep referrals and investigation requests in a safe place so you can find them when you need them.
• Ask your doctor to check your previous results during your appointment.
